It's been 14 months since my wife Ava passed away. My daughter Jenna decided that I wasn't taking good enough care of myself and moved back to Florida after 10 years in New York City to "look after" me. What a sweetheart she is... and I am definitely the better for it as I now have food in the refrigerator and pantry and have company in the house (she also brought her dog and cat). Just when I thought I was getting used to being alone and adapting to a new normal of life without my beloved wife, I am now learning to live another new normal with my daughter and pets. Life is indeed an adventure and everyday brings the possibility of something new and different.

I was hoping to be at the reunion to see many old friends and classmates (going back even to elementary school at Homecroft!). Sadly, my wife of 38 years was diagnosed seven years ago with PPA (Primary Progressive Aphasia - a Frontotemporal Dementia). Several months ago it became necessary to move her into a memory-care facility. I visit everyday and help with her meals. Though we both knew years ago that this day would come, it has not been easy to adjust to this new "normal." I, as of yet, nor may never, feel comfortable not being there daily for her and with her. So I have decided to forego the reunion. I hope you all enjoy the incredible opportunity to catch-up and reminisce about the good old days.
